She’s A Maneater to sweep SVL 2-y-o series

first_imgThe curtain comes down on the $11.6-million Supreme Ventures Triple Crown series for native bred two-year-olds with the brilliant, unbeaten filly SHE’S A MANEATER expected to complete a series sweep in the $4.25 million Jamaica 2-y-o Stakes over a mile at Caymanas Park today. The classy bay filly, who is trained by soon-to-be-crowned 16-time champion Wayne DaCosta for owner/breeder Winston Kong, has won her three races to date by a combined margin of 243/4 lengths and judging from the manner in which she spreadeagled rivals in the first two races of the series, winning looks a mere formality, barring an act of God.She slammed another good filly, MONEY MARKET by six lengths in the first race of the series, the Cash Pot ‘Only One for Me’ Trophy over 1200 metres on October 15 and was equally impressive in the second race over 1400 metres on November 26, beating the grey SOTOMAYOR and LADY FAYE by 53/4 lengths.Although stepping up to a mile, MANEATER, who is by Natural Selection out of the 2009 Horse of the Year Ahwhofah, will have no problems coping wit the additional furlong and given her abundance of class, should give DaCosta his fourth win in recent years, behind ALL CORRECT (2011), HOVER CRAFT (2012), ALI BABA (2014) and FUTURE KING last year.SHE’S A MANEATER, with leading jockey Omar Walker again in the saddle, has good speed and should shake loose of stable-companion MR UNIVERSE leaving the half mile for another emphatic victory, ahead of the improving SOTOMAYOR from the Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes stable. She looks all set to emulate the feat of another brilliant, unbeaten filly PRINCESS POPSTAR, who swept all three races in the series in 2013 for Hall of Fame trainer Philip Feanny and was crowned Horse of the Year.Kong, who won this race with the unbeaten 2-y-o RUN TAT RUN in 1997 and ALI BABA two years ago, is confident that SHE’S A MANEATER will follow in their footsteps.”She has done everything asked of her, looks an exceptional two-year-old and although her opponents will be looking to lower her colours, it will take something out of the ordinary to deny her,” he said.Other firm fancies on the 11-race holiday programme, sponsored by Supreme Ventures Limited, are CHOO CHOO BLUE with Walker riding for trainer Peter McMaster in the third race, THAT’S THE MAN in the sixth, the fleet-footed filly DANCING QUEEN to make all in the seventh, VALLEY OF THE CATS in the eighth, and SEEKING THE DAWN in the ninth over the straight.last_img
