Teen sentenced to community service for robbery

first_imgA 17-year-old school dropout of South Sophia, Greater Georgetown was on Tuesday ordered to complete four weeks of community service, after he admitted to committing a robbery when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.Omar Kenneth was charged for robbing Sohan Bridgelall at Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, Georgetown of two Blu cellular phones worth $30,000. The teen pleaded guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.On the day in question the Virtual Complainant (VC) was on his way home when the defendant, along with another person, attacked him and relieved him of his cellphones.An off-duty officer subsequently apprehended the defendant, and recovered the valuables. The teen confessed to the crime and was later charged.Kenneth will report to the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) for the next four months or will spend three months in prison if he defaults.last_img
