Xiaomi Mi 9: Full specs, expected price, launch timeline and availability details leak

The company has officially confirmed to start the new year by launching a new Redmi phone under the “independent” Redmi brand on Jan 10 in China. This phone could either be the Redmi Pro 2 or Redmi 7. Xiaomi is also working on the successor to the Mi 8, aka Mi 9. Last week a leak revealed that the upcoming Mi 9 will be different from the Mi 8 and sport triple rear camera, in-display fingerprint sensor and be powered by Qualcomm’s most capable Snapdragon 855 chipset.Xiaomi is yet to confirm the Mi 9 officially, but considering the rate at which details of the phone are leaking it won’t be wrong to expect the Mi 9 to launch in the next few months. A new leak now reveals the full specs, expected price, and also the launch timeline of the Mi 9. The leak suggests that Xiaomi could launch the Mi 9 by the end of February, most likely at Mobile World Congress. In fact, we believe most Xiaomi phones launching this year will sport the tiny notch instead of the traditional wide notch. This means that the bezels of the Mi 9 will be slimmer compared to the Mi 8. It suggests that the Mi 9 will be powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset that has been announced by Qualcomm very recently paired with the X24 LTE modem. Most flagships launching in 2019 from other OEMs are expected to come with Snapdragon 855.Variants: The leak suggests that Xiaomi could launch the Mi 9 in one variant with 6GB RAM paired with 128GB of internal storage.Camera: On the rear panel the Mi 9 is said to sport triple cameras while on the front there will be just one selfie shooter which will sit inside the teardrop notch. Talking about the rear panel first, the leak suggests that the Mi 9 will include a primary camera of 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, a secondary camera of 12MP and the third camera will be a 3D TOF camera. On the front, the Mi 9 is expected to sport a 24MP camera for clicking selfies.Battery: The leak reveals that the Mi 9 could be backed by a 3,500 mAh battery with 32W fast charging. As rumoured previously the new leak suggests that the Mi 9 will not come with wireless charging support.Price: The expected price of the Mi 9 has also been revealed now. As noted, the Mi 9 is expected to come in only one variant with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. This model of the phone is said to be priced around CNY 2,999 which is roughly translated to Rs 30,500.
