Shami, who was playing his first World Cup 2019 match on Saturday after replacing an injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar, picked up 3 wickets, including that of half-centurion Mohammad Nabi, in the final over wherein Afghanistan needed 16 runs.Shami hit the timber twice in the last over, sending Indian fans at The Rose Bowl into a tizzy. The Bengal pacer finished with figures of 4 for 40 in 9.5 overs as he combined with pace bowling partner Jasprit Bumrah as India flaunted their bowling firepower with a strong show vs Afghanistan.”It is a very good feeling. Taking a hat-trick is a big thing and doing it at World Cup stage is even better,” Shami told after the match-winning spell.Shami added: “There were 16 runs to defend in the final over. I thought it was enough for me. Afghanistan needed 21-22 (21) from the last 2 overs.Shami also said he trusted Bumrah to make his job easier by being miserly in the penultimate over. Bumrah, who had turned things around by removing well-set Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmat Shah in the 29th over, gave away just 5 runs when Afghanistan needed 21 runs in the last 2 overs.advertisement”I trusted you that you won’t give away a lot [in the 49th over]. From inside, I believed 16 runs was enough for me. I got the opportunity to execute my plans. If it had been anything less than that, then I would have found it difficult to execute plans,” Shami added.PACE SPECIAL: @Jaspritbumrah93 & @MdShami11 discuss #TeamIndia’s bowling heroics against Afghanistan & that very special Shami hat-trick – Interview by @RajalAroraFull video link (@BCCI) June 23, 2019″Enjoyed my bowling with Jasprit Bumrah at the other end.
