Statewide COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Underway

first_imgPexels Stock Image.ALBANY – Local health departments have started receiving COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers across New York State.Governor Andrew Cuomo said statewide 3,762 sites have been identified for vaccine distribution, but currently, only 636 sites have been activated.He says as of Tuesday, 900,000 vaccines have been distributed for 2.1 million healthcare workers.Hospitals that do not distribute their doses by the end of the week could get fined. “They are distributing vaccines to the healthcare workers along with the hospitals. So healthcare workers can either go to the hospitals… or they can go to 600 sites that are across the state,” said the Governor.Meanwhile, some local health departments across the state say more communication and partnership with localities is key to building out the infrastructure to get things done quicker.An aide to the Governor said the state is working on a public dashboard for vaccine data.He also said the goal is to have all nursing home residents receive their first dose of the vaccine within the next two weeks. Nonprofit Putt Off

first_imgBAR HARBOR — Pirates of all ages will have the chance for fun playing golf on Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at Pirate’s Cove, which received a 2009 Best of Maine award from Down East magazine as “the best miniature golf course in Maine.” The morning of family fun will benefit the Eden Nursery School and the community service projects of Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary. Registration for the tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. and play begins at 9 a.m. The event will include a 50/50 raffle with half of the proceeds benefiting the two nonprofits and the other half going to the winner of the drawing. There also will be a grand prize drawing for all participants.Businesses are invited to sponsor a hole. There are 72 sponsorships available. The cost of a sponsorship is $100; if the sponsor wants to include a foursome, the total cost is $150. The deadline for sponsorship is Friday, May 15. Other foursomes may play for $50 and individuals may play for $15.
